Chat Moods

I chat in light moods most of the times. But of late, I am confused about the mood of the person at the conversation POINT, rather confused if the person is serious/joking/mocking,etc/.. I use Y! and gtalk messengers. I think v don't have the option to convey my mood which I can change depending upon the topic v r talking about. It would be helpful if I can set a chat mood/theme for each person I am chatting with. Though skype provides the chat topic to be set, a more eXtra thing like the emoticons would be helpful.

Kabhi Alvidaa Naa Kehna

2 unhappy couples(SRK-Priety, Abhishek-Rani). 1 from each find solace in another's company. So u have 1 new bond. Here u don't find a strong reason(according to Indian perspective) for the new bond formation.

Here's the reason: Rani is confused about her love for Abhishek even before marriage and her impotency only adds fuel to the confusion. Also, she doesn't feel Abhishek to be mature enough for her. SRK feels low when his career ends abruptly and priety zooming past him in career.

And so, u have 1 new bond from the 2 unhappy couples. Having watched closer, some scenes(may be the entire plot) bring a sense of dejavu, especially the one in which Abhishhttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376541/ek confronts Rani about her sex life. Nothing great about acting, music, direction, screenplay. Just ok. In fact, first half an hour is boring. I wasn't sure if I could complete the movie. From then, u have 2 good scenes comes and pat follows a mediocre scene till the end

U have big stars and comes the big moolah from crowds especially NRIs for it's close NRI sensibilities. Indian crowds are split in reaction. If the same plot/theme comes from 'vishesh films', it would have a better reach. Never in your wild dreams do u expect this from KJ-SRK combo who earlier gave us the 'happily ever after' endings/movies. If u want to enjoy the movie, don't be judgemental and for the movie long time, think/live [u r] in NewYork.

Juggling with Unicode

Got a few tools, apps. for unicode writing, keyboard switching, transliterating.

1) http://indicime.mozdev.org/ THis is indic language script writer for firefox
2) An inspirational offspring for the indicime is http://telugutoolbar.mozdev.org/ which uses RTS(Rice Transliteration Standard) convention for transliteration.
3) http://www.tavultesoft.com/keyman/ This makes u switch keyboards [and integrate into apps.: as given in it's page]. This also has some resources for developers like developing new keyboard layouts, etc.

Long time, no see

Used to get this message from chinese chat friends when I used to meet them online after a period .. A first glance made me think that the phrase is not correct grammatically and even said so to them. One of the them even defended her stand but I wasn't sure if it was correct.

I was watching 'Spiderman' for 3 time and heard this phrase when mary meets Peter Parker after a couple of weeks and says this 'Hi peter, long time, no see'

    Hello! Skype translator at +9903936001

Read this article which says that Skype introduced a 24X7 translator service for it's users with a price tag of $2.99/min which seems to be quite high. On reading this news article, my eyes fell on this comment which reads -
"Not a political comment, just curious....
where are these translators located? India?
    Quality?"

Got the same kind of flak when apple/mac tried to outsource it's support services to bangalore. Steve Jobs is supposed to open the centre soon.

Is this flak from minority/majority group ?

Have a look at some of site names gone wrong
like down-them-all extension in firefox. It shows up as 'Downthemall' [down-the-mall]

    Long way to go..

Though v have tools for blogging and faster mail view(like googlepreview, AJAX yahoo mail in firefox), an integrated product with these is gud with also a blog reader like tool and a search engine tab.  How nice would it be if this is integrated with firefox.

    Waiting for the firefox version.

    Encounter with Medha Patkar

Yesterday, I went to a hotel to meet a client along with Kshitij. The client is from bangalore who was in delhi to attend a World Bank's conference on 'Land Records'. He wanted us to meet him in the afternoon after lunch. Kshitij and I started from office without having lunch. Ofcourse, we are anxious to know the project status from our client and it was our first interaction with the client. It was half past 1 O' clock. On reaching the hotel, we went to the conference hall in first floor. The sun was at his best in the chilling winter we have in delhi. The hotel had a nice ventilation for customers to bask under the sun sitting in the corridors.

We were sitting outside the conference hall waiting for our client to finish his lunch[eon]. Kshitij was enjoying the sun but I was little uncomfortable and sat in shade, away from kshitij. I was sitting in a couch when a middle-aged lady walked past me from the conference hall. I thought it was Medha patkar but not sure. I thought she would be returning for lunch. I thought of asking her autograph when she comes back but again I'm not sure if it was her. I never met her before though I read about her on net and in papers about the 'Narmada Bachao Project' and her agitations for the people in the narmada valley. While I was in my thoughts, she was returning for lunch and glanced at me. I saw her and smiled. I could not speak up and was in awe. She asked me if had my lunch. I replied that I would have it later. I confirmed myself that she is 'Medha Patkar'. She smiled and told that she had to go elsewhere and left for lunch. I didn't knew why she enquired about me as if she knew me. I called kshitij and told him that Medha Patkar was in the conference. "Who's Medha Patkar?", asked kshitij. I laughed and tried to explain him. I thought he was kidding.

After a while, my client got his stomach full and we set out to our office. As we were waiting for the cab, as many others over there, Medha patkar was leaving for some work as she told me earlier. She asked me again if my work was done. I told that I had come there to meet a person and showed my client. A person who is with her introduced my client to her. I didn't hear what he said. The person with her told her about the 'Bhoomi' project that my client is ON. She smiled wittily and told the name was good although she doesn't know much about the project. She told that she had to go somewhere and that she had to return for the conference soon.

After she left the place, my client asked me if I knew her. I told that I talked to her just before. I was happy that she remembered me from our first encounter.
